This isn't something you should be doing in addition to your day jobs, right?

My name is Ajith Kar, and I'm a consultant that has helped many government agencies across the United States modernize their E R P systems or get them to a spot where their existing system does better work for them. The first thing you need to do is curb your enthusiasm. Don't just go buy something because there was a slick salesman. The demo was great. You met someone at a conference. It's easy to just say, I'm going to buy something I saw that was cool. And then what you'll end up with is a big mess on your hands when that thing you saw that was school at a conference didn't quite do the job. So holy horses don't buy a system just yet.

In this video, we're going to talk about how do you budget for this very expensive E R P implementation that you're planning, how to time the purchase, how to budget for it, and how to source the funds so that you have the money available when you need it to be. E R P systems and implementations for governments tend to be a very expensive endeavor. Sometimes it's a once in a career, once in a lifetime opportunity in a project for a finance director or an HR director or an IT director. When it comes time for budgeting for a new eerp system or modernizing your existing one, how do you know where to start? How do you know how much funds to look for? How do you know how to time it? You can look into a crystal ball cuz really sometimes that's all it takes cuz you don't know if you don't know.

In this video, we're going to talk about who's involved in an E R P implementation. In a previous video, we talked about the different roles involved in an e p implementation, but today I want to talk specifically about who gets to make the decisions and at what levels are they made, like we talked about earlier, you've got the sponsor, you have a project manager, you have functional leads, and you have an overall project manager either on your side as an internal city employee or a consultant. The project team on the vendor's side will have their own team. They'll have a project manager, they'll have functional leads. They'll, they'll have what's called implementation consultants in some cases, but who on your side makes the decisions and decisions come in many different flavors, right? You have the small decisions being who gets to process invoices, who gets to process purchase orders, what in what sequence does the requisition turn into a purchase order?
